Neuro-affirming pedagogical strategies

WP2 contributes to the project’s aim on creating a sustainable and inclusive higher education environment that effectively supports and enhances the educational experiences of neurodiverse students and students with hidden disabilities by developing resources, toolkits, and guidelines that directly impact faculty teaching approaches and student learning experiences.

Objective

To enhance pedagogical practices and develop instructional strategies that support neurodiverse students and students with hidden disabilities.

WP2 will produce pedagogical resources that transform teaching practices, ensuring long-term impact and widespread adoption of neurodiversity-inclusive strategies. The main results are:

Guidelines for Classroom Management Techniques: practical approaches for fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Guide on Applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Principles: a step-by-step guide for adapting teaching to be more flexible and inclusive for neurodiverse students.

2. Guidelines for Neurodivergent-Friendly Assessment Practices

A structured framework offering alternative assessment models, ensuring that grading and evaluation methods align with diverse cognitive strengths and minimize barriers for neurodiverse students.

3. Seven Action Plans for Inclusive Pedagogy

Institutional roadmaps for embedding neurodiversity principles into academic policies, faculty training, and curriculum development, ensuring systemic and sustainable change.

4. Neurodiversity Self-Assessment Tool for Students

A personalized tool enabling students to evaluate their own learning preferences, identify necessary accommodations, and advocate for their needs within academic settings.

Results will be available for download once they will be ready (expected date – end of January, 2027).
